Flashback

It’s cold.
It’s dark out.
The sky is clear. I can see some stars.
The cement is ice on my bare feet.
I wrap my arms around my waist, but it does little to fight the chill.
I can see my breath.
There are sparkling droplets of water on the grass.
The air smells dry and wet, but has a hint of wood hiding in it.
There is a light sound of the wind circulating and of passing cars on other streets. Other than that…it is quiet.
My footsteps don’t make a sound as I walk toward the front of the garage where the cars are making shadows of sanctuary. Now the only thing missing…is you.
