A Helping Hand

So, this is roughly what would be the beginning of The Devil Has Blue Eyes. <--The Playlist is also located there. Hope you like it! ;)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"-stop."

The voice was familiar, but I couldn't place where I knew it or why I'd be hearing it in my room.

My eyes slipped open to Tracy, the bus driver, shaking my shoulder gently.

"Amy, you missed your stop. This is the last one." Her eyes were full of worry.

I sat up and looked around. I was on the bus, everyone else had gone and it was dark outside the window. The surrounding buildings didn't look in any way friendly.

"Honey, I'm sorry. I thought you'd gotten off without me seeing you like you always do."

"No, Tracy, it's okay. It's not your fault I fell asleep."

This brought a sympathetic smile to her face.

"Finals?"

I grinned back, "Yeah."

"I don't know what to do, I can't help you, but I'm not leaving you here alone." She sat down on the seat across me.

"I'll just find a phone and call a cab. Where's the nearest…something?"

Tracy's eyes drifted up toward the front of the bus as her hand drifted toward the small cross around her neck.

"Need some help angel?"

Before I could look at who'd spoken, Tracy stood.

"Not from you." Her voice shook as did her entire body, but there was a fire in her eyes.

I looked up and standing on the stairs was a man smoking a cigarette. He shook some ash to the ground as my eyes rested on his face. My heart stopped, and I understood the fear that Tracy was feeling.

It took one look at his face and I knew who he was. Whether or not he'd made it obvious for me to know, I had no idea.

His name involuntarily fell out of my mouth, "Lucifer."

It wasn't loud enough for anyone to hear other than myself, but the atmosphere thickened in the crammed bus.

"People don't terribly often miss their stop, but when they do, they end up here. It's my job to make sure they get home." He continued, shaking a little rain out of his hair; it was brown with a light brown highlights. He flashed me a grin of amazing teeth that could somehow look menacing at the same time.

Regardless, I didn't miss his lack of adding "safely" into that sentence.

I didn't have any other choice but to go with him. There didn't appear to be any other place around here. I did my best to recall everything I knew about the devil that could help me or keep me safe.

I knew he had nothing to offer that I'd ever consider.

I stood "Umm, okay, thank you."

Tracy seemed like she was going to say something and grabbed my hand.

I smiled softly at her. "I'll be alright." I said squeezing her hand.

I walked toward him. It seemed completely unnatural for me to be going to Satan, not away from him.

I kept telling myself that I wouldn't be around him long.

I came close enough that he moved and put his hand on my back to guide me out of the bus. If I hadn't seen his arm move I wouldn't have been aware that he was touching me. I could hardly feel it. He seemed much larger now that I was next to him. He was easily over six feet tall and could put up a fight.

"She'll see you tomorrow Tracy." He called back. I couldn't pinpoint the hidden message his voice conveyed.
The wind blew a small spray of light rain and I pulled my coat tighter around my neck.

"Thanks for coming along." He muttered. "Tracy doesn't trust me." I looked at him as he winked at me and I was stunned.

I never would have guessed that The Rebel Son had eyes that contained every kind of blue that I could imagine. The fire that they roared in hardly seemed contained by his body.

It took me a moment to desensitize myself from his eyes, but I managed to find my voice. "And why would that be…brother?"

He didn't halt in his stride, but threw his head to the sky and let out a laugh that seemed to resonate through the clouds. I wasn't sure if the sudden gust of wind was what chilled me to my bones.

"So, you know who I am, and you still came with me." he looked to me with an excited light. "Are you looking for something else other than a telephone?" he held is arms out as if offering himself.

"No." I said simply, continuing forward. I felt the slight purse in my lips.

His expression fell immediately and lines appeared between his eyebrows.

"Well that's a shame." He seethed.

I tried not to be surprised by his sudden change in attitude.

Loud, harsh music began wafting in and out of my ears as we came close to a club, the door was opening and closing as people went inside.

The Styx. I smiled to myself at the characteristic of the name and its mythological origins. He had said it was his place. So this was his river to hell.

A doorman stood by the door, typical of most, tall, beefy, and covered in tattoos. He made no motion at stopping anyone that went inside regardless of age or social standing. It seemed anyone was welcome into this dangerous place.

"Drake." Lucifer, Satan, I didn't know what to call him yet, nodded to the doorman.

"All hail Nick." He muttered back with a smirk. "Who's the doll face?"

Being called doll face wasn't new to me. My literal doll-like features made me easy to identify.

"This," Nick wrapped his arm around my waist and smothering me into his side, "Is Angel."

"It's Amy." I corrected.

Drake chuckled.

"Nope. It's Angel." Nick gave a stern stare. I was beginning to figure out how this place ran. He was the authority, the boatman, but I didn't belong here. He wasn't in charge of me.

"Although," he thought, "doll face isn't bad either." He waved it off. "Well, either way, it's Mine for short."

I couldn't stop my mouth from falling open. I gathered myself and began to protest.

"Isn't that right Drake?" He interrupted.

"Damn straight! Don't you forget it doll face!" now Drake winked at me too and Nick started to pull me into the club and I didn't have the strength to fight against him.

"Later Angel!" Drake called behind us with a laugh.

I don't know how I hadn't noticed it before, but once we went through the door I was completely invaded by the nauseating smell of mixed cigarette, pot, cocaine, heroin, and a million other kinds of smoke. Alcohol was surly hidden in there somewhere along with other human scents. Even without the smell there was no way I could see anything or anyone with the flashing lights and almost complete blackness made by all of the bodies.

By the sound of it there were more than likely several fights going on somewhere and other activities that I wished were easier to ignore.

Nick stopped next to another doorman on the inside. As much as Drake was covered in tattoos, this guy was covered in piercings. "Angel here's free to come and go as she pleases." He nodded toward me and the second doorman only glared down at me before we continued on. It should have been impossible for me to hear him with all of the noise, but he must have wanted me to hear and spoke loud enough.

I knew trying to direct myself in this mess would be worthless, so I let Nick pull me along. We went to the far side of the room and began to follow a barely noticeable line of small skull-shaped party lights hanging from the shallow ceiling. As we passed through the crowd Nick would either pass a joint or drink from one person to another after taking some himself or push two people closer than seemed possible. Once he even took the hand of a scared looking young man with glasses and thrust it into a tall woman's rear. I was grateful no one was touching me, but I was getting more uncomfortable by the second.

After what seemed an eternity, Nick took me up a small set of stairs to a door. He opened it without hesitation and nearly threw me inside. I stumbled but caught myself on a desk, then looked around.

This one room was an entire floor. It was as big as downstairs if not bigger. The entire place was high class-furnished, but the gaudy and dark kind. Besides the immediate area that I was in, the rest of the room was dark enough that I couldn't make out details of what was in it.

I found Nick leaning against the door with a mischievous half grin across his face as he shamelessly pervaded my body with his eyes. Then without a word he walked over to a small home bar.

I turned and tried to find a phone. He'd said there was a pay phone, but why would there be one in here?

"Where's the pay phone?" I asked quietly.

Ignoring my question he asked "How old are you?"

I frowned. I'd play along, but only until I found the phone. "Twenty-two."

"Ah, you're over age, so no reason to protest." He said as he turned around with two glasses in his hand.

I didn't take it.

"The phone?" I pressed.

He was suddenly much to close.

"What's the rush?" his voice slithered off of his tongue like a spell floating effortlessly into my ears. His lips and nose wafted about my face. "Relax a little while…" His hands went from my waist to my shoulders, effortlessly slipping my coat off. "and have a drink." The scent of his breath was thicker than the smoke downstairs, more intoxicating, more inviting than any physical substance. It was making me more senseless by the second, but not enough that I didn't notice his hips driving me into the desk.

I broke my face away, shocked that I gasped for breath. "Phone." I muttered.

His hand flew up into my vision, a small cordless phone inside it.

I stared at it confused.

"I thought you said there was a payphone." I began to glare.

"This is a payphone." He grinned. "We just have a different kind of payment around here."

My heart was suddenly in my throat and I couldn't breathe again, only this time I was able to feel it. I could feel my pulse in my hands as they clutched the desk behind me.

"So…" Nick began his face closing in on mine again and I closed my eyes.

"We can discuss that later." I carefully opened my eyes to see him pull back and hold the phone out to me.

I stared at him, trying to see if there was a trick in this. His eyes didn't betray him.

Taking the phone my hand shook slightly and I found myself upset with how he was able to affect me like this.

I called the taxi and thanked God that it was close. A mere ten minutes away.

"Thank you." I said and hung up the phone and handed it out to Nick.

He took the phone and before I could blinked, tossed it onto the desk, grabbed my wrist and pulled me toward him, smashing my lips into his.

He kissed me in the most invading way, forcing my mouth open and flicking his tongue in without permission. I tried to fight, but he was too strong. I threw myself away from him with a gasp the second he let me go. I didn't stop and ran out of the room his laugh chasing me down the stairs and even through the entire club.

I wasn't sure if I was just hearing it in my head now as I ran past Drake outside, heading towards the street as he called after me, "See you next time doll face!"

Back at The Styx

WAIT!!! Before you read this, have you read The Devil Has Blue Eyes Intro (which contains the Playlist), A Helping Hand and Safe Haven?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was yelling at myself internally as I found myself at The Styx yet again. I couldn't say why I couldn't stop myself from going into this place that I truly hated. I was telling myself that it was pure curiosity as the doorman waved me in with a sinister smirk and I was nearly knocked off of my feet by the music and mass of bodies. I didn't look at the faces as closely as I had the first time, I'd learned my lesson.

I followed the hanging lights to the back and up a small set of stairs. I was about to knock when an arm wrapped around my waist.

"You keep coming back," Nick's lips were at my ear, "but you never quite…deliver." he hissed. I tried to ignore the chill that settled in as his fingers traced up my thighs.

Before I could really react, he was gone, opening the door and sitting in his chair, but he used it more as a throne, lounging as he glared at me. "Why?"

I don't know. But I wasn't going to say that, so I said this instead, "Why, with all of your followers, must you deal with me personally?"

He smiled, it was quick, there in a flash, but there wasn't a gleam in his eyes, especially once it was gone.

I'd hit my mark. I pushed back my own pride. He couldn't have anything to use.

We had a bit of a stare down, though it seemed more like he was thinking since his hands had slowly moved to being folded under his nose.

"Sit." He said suddenly.

I looked around, but there wasn't any other chair in the room. "On the floor?" I tried to clarify.

"NO!" the tone of his voice sounded almost like a possessed child and he grabbed me and yanked me down into his lap. "Here." His voice had changed now, seductive once again, his nose grazing my neck, but his grip wasn't kind.

I found myself fighting somewhat for breath.

"Why haven't you just killed me already?" I panted.

Nick's hand that was nearly breaking my arm was now stroking my hair, the other caressing my face. "That…" he began looking me over, "Would just be a waste." I was precious again.

"Waste of what?" I dared to ask.

He chuckled slightly, "If I killed you now," he was talking to me as if I were a child that had asked why my puppy had died. "you would still be too pure." His eyes were then boring into mine, something sinister in their depths. "Where's the fun in that? And it would completely defeat the purpose."

"Of trying to bring me down to your level?" I glared.

It was Nick's toothless grin that I was getting accustomed to meaning I was on the right track. "Precisely."

"The best life is in death." He whispered.

"Which death would that be?"

He grinned. I wasn't sure if he was annoyed or impressed. He could have just been amused.

With inhuman speed he grabbed my wrist and inhaled its scent with a hiss.

"I really..." his teeth pricked at the skin between him and my veins "hate you."

His eyes burned at me and I held my breath.

Want to see my list of Books and Music

Lovely Music

I have a great passion for music. There is so much in it everything about it. I'm not the type of person that sticks to one genre. If something appeals to me I like it for itself, though I must say I like more of the Rock/Alternative songs than anything else.

Getting back to the point...

It helps me write either by creating a mood, assisting a mood, or inspiring an idea altogether. Now here's a list of artists that are rather lovely:

Lifehouse, Paramore, Safetysuit, Epica, Bullet for my Valentine, Muse, The Ataris, Evanescence, Katy Perry, Colbie Callet, Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie, Creed, P!nk, 3 Doors Down, The All American Rejects, Angels and Airwaves, Augustana, Barenaked Ladies, The Beatles, Journey, Blink 182, Blue October, Snow Patrol, The Fray, Bon Jovi, Boys Like Girls, Foo Fighters, Gloriana, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, The Wreckers, Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, The Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day, Composer Hans Zimmer, Hellogoodbye, Howie Day, Keane, Keith Urban, Landon Pigg, Letters to Cleo, Lady GaGa, Linkin Park, Composer Alan Menken, Nickelback, Nickel Creek, Ok Go, Queen, Radiohead, Robert Pattinson, Sam Bradely, Sara Bareilles, Seether, Staind, Train, Sting, Switchfoot, U2, 30 Seconds to Mars, and sooo many movie soundtracks, especially The Twilight Saga: New Moon Soundtrack currently!

What about the Big Screen and the Library?

Sight-Jacob

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I held his hair back while he continued to vomit. I didn't say anything, just waited.

He turned away from the toilet when he was done, breathing heavily, staying on his knees. I remained sitting on the edge of the tub and watched him. He scooted over to the wall and laid his face against it, then his eyes met mine. I almost couldn't keep my calm composure, the pain and agony in his eyes took my breath away.

"Come on." I mumbled to him once his breathing slowed.

I helped him up and started walking him to my car, his arm hot over my shoulders, my bare arm almost feeling singed around his waist.

I did alright, holding him up by myself, for a good while, but when my arms started to feel the strain Gabe appeared around the corner, leaning against the wall, the same smile that I was getting used to on his face.

"Here." He said gently and took him from me. I smiled softly at him.

Jacob Sever didn't say anything as we put him in the backseat. He didn't ask where we were going, who we were, or what we wanted. Frankly, I wasn't sure he could if he'd wanted to.

I tried not to panic with all of the Temperos now crowding my apartment, but they left me alone with Gabe there. There were already bound to Jacob.

Jacob seemed even less conscious now. That was good; it meant he was closer to sleep. We needed him to sleep he had to be sober in order to do this right.

I knew that there were stronger and smarter Temperos here, so I couldn't Look at them. I couldn't tell Gabe either, these ones could possibly understand human speak. Instead I looked at him carefully, making sure he could read my expression. He nodded, acknowledging he understood. He wouldn't leave me alone tonight.

"You can put him here." I said, gesturing to the couch, but Gabriel walked past me towards the bathroom.

"He reeks." Was all he said.

I crossed my arms and plopped onto the sofa, rubbing my eyes, trying not to be overwhelmed by everything.

A holler from the bathroom made me jump.

"Anna!" Gabriel groaned.

My heart rate didn't settle down after the initial scare. If Gabriel sounded so upset, I had every reason to worry.

I cautiously, but hurriedly went to the bathroom. I was shocked to see Gabriel smiling as he tried to restrain Jacob. Tried. He was trying and failing.

"This is definitely our guy." He grunted just before being thrown against the wall.

If Jacob was over powering Gabriel, he really was who we were looking for.

Jacob was gasping and moaning, trying to stand, but not getting far, before falling down again. His hair was wet and water was running down his bare back.

Gabriel went for him again, and I held up my hand to stop him.

I lowered myself down on the floor in front of where Jacob was kneeling.

"Jacob." I said softly.

His eyes snapped up at me, glossy, but not as blurred. It was that look again. My chest swelled with pity.

I put my hand on his cheek. "It's okay. Come with me."

He stared at me a moment then began to stand again and I helped him gently. I walked him to the couch and sat him on it, he held my arm to stay steady and when he was sitting he slid his hand down into mine and held tightly.

I wasn't sure what to do, so I just sat down next to him. He slid himself sideways and laid his head in my lap, and began to breathe slowly.

I couldn't resist stroking his hair out of his face a little like he was a child. I wanted his suffering to end immediately so badly, but I knew we had a lot to go through still.

Gabriel came in chuckling and observed the scene. And then as if he'd read my mind he said, "Soon, Anna. He'll be alright."

I let one lone tear escape, the last one I'd shed until this was over.

Soon.

I waited for Jacob to stir the next morning. We had fallen asleep like that. Or rather, he fell asleep and I was trapped there with his head on my lap. It was getting close to the afternoon and he'd been sleeping for a long time. He should be close to clean now. We could do this.

Jacob inhaled deeply, than began to sit up and looked straight into my face with shocked eyes.

"Who-?" he asked, but I didn't answer, not yet.

He began to look around and he frowned at Gabriel across the room.

"I'm surprised you're not dead." Gabriel started, sitting up. "Most of your brain had to be swimming in alcohol with all of those drinks you took down."

I gave Gabriel the "Not now" glare.

He noticed and put his hands up in surrender, sitting back again.

Jacob was sitting on his own now, blinking carefully, rubbing his eyes and stretching his mouth.

"Yeah, buddy, I'm used to a lot worse." He answered Gabriel.

I couldn't resist my frown.

"It's just the damn hangover that I can't get the hang of." He was holding his head now and putting it between his knees.

He groaned and I got up and got a glass of water, bringing it back and holding it out to him.

He looked shocked once he saw it, and took it cautiously, eyeing me carefully.

"It's just water." I smiled softly. "And if you can keep this down we'll get you some real food and then some Ibuprofen."

He nodded, bargain made, and gently sipped the water. He swallowed and stilled, assessing himself.

After a moment he downed the whole glass and then gave me a half grin.

"Give it a few minutes." I muttered, then sat on the couch again.

Jacob set the glass down and sat back.

"So…what's going…with all this?" he asked with a pointed look to the two of us.

Gabriel opened his mouth to speak, but I interrupted him.

"Not until he's eaten." Standing up and going into the kitchen.

Gabe was looking at me with a shocked expression as I walked past him. I got in the kitchen and started pulling out dishes.

"Geez, Anna. You're really bossy today." He called from the living room.

Before I realized it, I slammed the pan on the stove and stormed back into the room.

"Well pardon me for not wanting to screw this up!" I yelled, then immediately humbled after seeing their somewhat horrified faces.

"I'm sorry." I closed my eyes and rubbed my temples, "I'm just tense."

"Anna?"

I opened my eyes and looked at Jacob. "Yes, Anna." I answered.

I quickly went back into the kitchen. The way my name had fallen off of his mouth had made my heart pound.

I didn't hear him come in, but a moment later Gabe was rubbing my arms.

"He really unsettles you, doesn't he?"

I sighed. "He makes me feel so overwhelmed with it all."

I turned and looked him in the eyes, distressed. "It's like I've known him all my life, but had no idea."

"It's supposed to." He answered holding me for a moment, before I turned back to the food.

The Devil Has Blue Eyes

New idea ladies and gentlemen!!(Scroll down for Playlist)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The devil has brown hair, looks to be in his late twenties, goes by Nick, smokes because it looks good, has a grin that could kill, a body that would ensnare any living woman, and the bluest eyes I've ever seen.
=======================
Amy didn't mean to end up on this side of town. Nor did she intend to have good ol' Nick trying to "help her out." She has no trouble ignoring his whispers. The problem is, she doesn't see a devil or a demon. She sees a man.
